Bill on fast transport of goods to get Cabinet approval soon

New Delhi: A bill that seeks to facilitate fast movement of goods for domestic as well as foreign markets would be placed before the Union Cabinet for approval soon, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday.

Besides, the ministry would also seek Cabinet approval to the national logistics policy which aims at reducing logistics cost by one-third.

The commerce ministry has finalised the Multi-Modal Transportation of Goods Bill, 2019, (MMTG) which seeks to facilitate faster movement of consignments for exports, imports and domestic trade, Goyal said.

“We will soon take that up with the Cabinet,” he said.

After the Cabinet’s approval, the Bill will be introduced in Parliament for approval. It would repeal the existing MMTG Act 1993.
