Chennai: Exporters from Kerala have asked the government to simplify the paper work for availing export incentives under various export schemes.
Schemes like service India export scheme or merchant India export scheme (MIES) offer incentives to exporters but most of the traders are unable to avail due to difficult paperwork and lack of awareness, according to the Customs-Trade Facilitation Council, Cochin Customs.
Exporters have to hire agents by paying a commission to avail these benefits, it pointed out.
The council suggests that simplification of paperwork in getting foreign inward remittance certificate which is mandatory for getting MIES benefits would help more exporters to avail these benefits.
Moreover, the process of coss verification of exports with the Customs Department should be eased to save time and money of exporters, it highlighted.
